Luxury Vinyl Tile in Deer Park

Vinyl tile brings a stone or ceramic style into your home with a floor that stays warmer underfoot and handles spills without fuss. The few people who measure your rooms are the same ones who prep, install and clean up, so nothing gets lost between crews.

A tile look without the cold, hard floor

Luxury vinyl tile, or LVT, comes in square and rectangular pieces printed to look like slate, travertine, marble or patterned ceramic. Most of what we install has a rigid core that clicks together and floats over the subfloor. For some rooms a thinner glue-down tile makes more sense, and a few products even accept a flexible grout so the joints look like real tile.

It is a good fit for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms and entries where you want a tile look but not the weight, the cold or the cracked grout lines. If you prefer long wood-look boards instead, our luxury vinyl plank page covers that option.

We are a small team, and the people who look at your floor on the first visit are the people who install it. Flooring Deer Park has been in business 25+ years, and keeping one crew on a job is how we have always worked.

What your vinyl tile installation includes

Measuring and layout planning

We measure each room and plan where the tile lines fall, so you do not end up with thin slivers at a doorway or along the most visible wall. Square tile shows a crooked layout fast, so this step matters more than it does with plank.

Removing the old floor

We take up carpet, laminate, vinyl or ceramic and haul it away. If an older sheet vinyl looks like it could contain asbestos, we stop and tell you before anything is disturbed.

Subfloor flattening

Rigid vinyl tile only performs on a flat base, and each manufacturer sets a tight limit on dips and humps. We grind down ridges and fill hollows with patch or self-leveler, so the joints stay closed and the floor does not flex or click when you walk on it.

Moisture check on concrete

Most homes around here sit on a concrete slab, and slabs can push moisture up into a floor. We test before we install and use the right underlayment or vapor barrier for what we find.

Trim, transitions and doors

We undercut door jambs so tile slides beneath them, set transitions to neighboring floors, and reinstall or replace baseboard and quarter round. Toilets and appliances are pulled and reset as part of the job.

Cleanup at the end of each day

Scraps, dust and packaging leave with us. You get your rooms back clean enough to walk through in socks.

Signs vinyl tile could be the right next floor

  • Cracked ceramic or stained grout

Cracked tiles and grout that never comes clean are common in older kitchens and baths. Vinyl tile keeps the look without grout lines to scrub.

  • Sheet vinyl that is peeling or bubbling

Lifting seams and bubbles mean the old floor has let go of the subfloor. It usually needs to come up, and LVT is a sturdy replacement.

  • Cold, hard floors in rooms you stand in

If you spend long stretches at a kitchen counter or sink, vinyl tile is noticeably softer and warmer on your feet than stone or ceramic.

  • Carpet in a wet room

Carpet in a bathroom, laundry room or back entry holds onto moisture and odors. Vinyl tile resists water and wipes clean.

  • Worries about tile weight or height

Thin vinyl tile adds very little height, which helps where a new floor has to meet existing cabinets, doors or another room without a tall step.

How a vinyl tile job runs, start to finish

  1. 1

A phone call and a visit

You tell us about the rooms and what bothers you about the current floor. We come out, measure, check the subfloor and walk you through tile choices that suit how you use the space.

  2. 2

    A clear written estimate

You get a line-item estimate showing materials, removal, floor prep and trim, so you can see where the money goes. Nothing gets added without talking with you first.

  3. 3

    Prep day

The old floor comes up, the subfloor gets flattened and moisture-tested, and the tile sits in your home to acclimate. On smaller jobs, prep and install often happen back to back.

  4. 4

    Install day

The same crew lays the tile from the planned starting line, cuts carefully around cabinets, vents and door frames, and sets transitions and trim. You can usually walk on a floating floor right away.

  5. 5

    Walkthrough together

Before we leave, we walk the floor with you, check every joint and transition, and show you how to care for it. Your install is covered by our 1-year workmanship warranty.

What moves the price of vinyl tile

Vinyl tile pricing depends far more on your rooms than on a number per square foot. We price after we have seen the floor, and the estimate breaks out each piece so you are not guessing.

The tile you choose
Thickness, wear layer and core type all change the material cost. Thicker rigid-core tiles and products made to be grouted cost more than thin glue-down tile.
What has to come up first
Pulling carpet is quick. Removing glued sheet vinyl or ceramic set in mortar takes much longer and adds disposal.
Condition of the subfloor
A slab with dips, cracks or old adhesive ridges needs grinding and leveler before tile goes down. This is the cost that most often surprises people, which is why we check it at the first visit.
Layout and room shape
Diagonal patterns, mixed tile sizes and rooms with many corners mean more cuts and more waste. Bathrooms take longer per square foot than open rooms for the same reason.
Trim and fixtures
New baseboard, stair nosing, toilet resets and moving heavy appliances each add a line to the estimate.

Questions about luxury vinyl tile

Something not covered here? (346) 639-4019

What is the difference between luxury vinyl tile and luxury vinyl plank?

They are made the same way. Tile comes in square or rectangular pieces meant to look like stone or ceramic, while plank comes in long boards that look like wood. Tile layouts need more careful planning because straight grid lines show any error.

Is vinyl tile waterproof in a bathroom?

The tile itself does not absorb water, so spills and splashes are fine. Water can still find its way under the edges if it sits on the floor, so we seal around tubs and toilets with the right caulk. It is not a fix for a leaking pipe, which should be repaired before the new floor goes in.

Can you install vinyl tile over my existing tile?

Sometimes. If the old tile is solid, flat and the grout lines are filled level, a rigid-core tile can go over it. If tiles are loose or cracked, or the extra height causes problems at doors and appliances, we will recommend taking it up.

Will the same people be in my home the whole time?

Yes. We are a small crew, and the people who measure your floor are the ones who prep it, install it and walk it with you at the end. You always know who is in your home.

What happens if something goes wrong after the job?

Every installation carries a 1-year workmanship warranty. If a joint separates or a transition loosens because of how it was installed, give us a call and we will come back and fix it. We are also insured while we work in your home.
